"Firefly: The Complete Series" is a collection of 12 television episodes set 500 years in the future about a group of renegades aboard a spaceship named Serenity. The captain of the ship is Malcolm "Mal" Reynolds (Nathan Fillion), a veteran of the war for independence from the totalitarian interplanetary government called the "Alliance". Mal and his crew take on passengers Dr. Simon Tamm (Sean Maher) and River Tamm (Summer Glau), a brother and sister on the run after an Alliance-affiliated program performed secret medical experiments on River's brain. Mal and his crew work to stay alive, avoid government operatives, outwit bounty hunters, and discover the truth about River and the Alliance.
