Nick Pearsons (Ice Cube) is a retired athlete and bachelor who owns a fine sports collectibles store in Portland and has just purchased his dream SUV. Pearsons does not like kids, but when he finds himself attracted to Suzanne Shaw (Nia Long), who has two kids he wonders whether it is worth learning to like them. After spending a while in the friend zone, an opportunity arises for Pearsons to really help out Suzanne by getting her kids from Portland to Vancouver, B. C. to be with her. The trouble ensues when the children realize his intentions and make every attempt to alienate him because he is not their father, who is the only one they want for their mother. Will they make it to Vancouver in one piece and who will be the one asking 'Are We There Yet?'
