Escaflowne, The Movie is about Hitomi Kanzaki(Maaya Sakamoto) , a young girl with problems. She is involved in high school track, and while running a race she experiances a vision of a young man battling a dragon. She soon finds out that this man is real and his name is Van(Tomokazu Seki). Van and Hitomi become friends an they talk about a battle on his home planet. There is lore of a dragon aromr which could be used to aid his people. Van uses a dragon heart to awaken a robot called escaflowne to battle the attack on Gaia, Van's homeworld.
