Kiki (Kirsten Dunst) is a young witch who must leave her home as a rite of passage. After living on her own for a year, she will be considered a full-grown witch. She takes only her broom and her cat Jiji (Phil Hartman), and finds a new city to call home. While trying to find a way to pay back a woman who has helped her, she realizes that her ability to fly on her broom makes her perfect for deliveries. She finds a friend who also loves to fly, although he can only do it by creating flying machines. Meanwhile, Jiji is making a feline friend of his own. Although the road is bumpy, Kiki emerges triumphant on her journey to adulthood.
