Leroy Green (Taimak) has completed all the lessons his kung fu master can teach him. He is sent on a quest to find the one who can take him to the ultimate level, the "glow." Leroy's passion for kung fu is misunderstood by his family, especially his younger brother, Richie (Leo O'Brien) who has a crush on the beautiful singer and video dj, Laura Charles (Vanity). Eddie Arkadian (Christopher Murney) is a music promoter with extremely bad taste who is intent on convincing Laura to show his videos on her television show and will go to any extreme to change her mind. An interest is sparked between Leroy and Laura when he saves her from a kidnapping by Arkadian. Leroy must also save himself from a kung fu street gang demanding that he bow down to their leader, Sho'nuff (Julius J. Carry III) aka the Shogun of Harlem.
